Why should you attend/apply?
Your service is important for your community
Engaging in community service allows you to make a positive impact on your community as well as potentially society at large. Especially at UW with a diverse range of people, there are many volunteer opportunities for diverse types of communities. Your service matters to those communities in need.
Network with many different communities and organizations
Create opportunities for yourself by connecting with communities and organizations of your interest. It can be really helpful in your future.
Find a cause that you are passionate about
Service Dawg will provide a wide array of community service opportunities that you may find you have passion for. If you already know what you are passionate about, community service would be a great way to practice your passion.
Meet new students and make friends
UW is a big campus and sometimes it is hard to connect with people. You may meet new people who share a common interest and passion with you at the fair.
Qualifications
Students
All UW students are invited to Service Dawg with no need of applications or RSVPs. Even if you do not know anything about community service, you are more than welcome to stop by and learn about what current RSOs do for community service and enjoy some free food and treats we provide.
RSOs
Service Dawg is a separate event from the regular RSO fair. Service Dawg is for you, if your RSO:
1) wants to learn more about community service, or
2) has already done some community service, and wants to showcase what they have done and recruit more volunteers/members.
Application
All RSOs need to go through an easy, concise application process.
Application form requires RSOs to:
1) give a brief description of community service they have done, and
2) (optional, but highly recommended) photos taken during the event.
What does exactly count as community service?
Community service is any voluntary work the RSO has done that is intended to help people of particular area or community. It can be an event that directly helps people in need on site, as well as indirectly helping people through raising money. Here are some examples of community service:
-
Helping with sorting, stacking, and packing food at a local food bank
-
Organizing video game tournament for charity
-
Cleaning up a local park
-
Participating in a charity walk/run
-
Hosting fundraising events to donate money to charity
-
Volunteering at a youth center, hospital, or nursing home
-
Creating care packages and distributing them to homeless people
RSO Application Process
In order for a RSO to participate in the Service Dawg, they must submit an application that includes proof of their participation in community service and meet certain requirements.

We are currently accepting application for SPRING 2019. The application will close on Friday, March 22th.

Our Mission
The Service Dawg is an interactive fair open to all students, qualified registered student organizations (RSOs), and invited communities/companies. It is a way for RSOs to promote and showcase what they do for community service as well as to recruit new members or volunteers and connect with communities/companies that can potentially provide sponsorship and more volunteer opportunities.
Unlike the regular RSO Activities Fair during Dawg Daze, the Service Dawg is a separate quarterly event that aims to increase awareness of community service among students and faculty, and encourage student organizations as well as students in general to participate in community service throughout their college life. It allows students to easily find many different types of volunteer opportunities through a variety of RSOs with different focuses and interests.
